Business Head

As a CEO & Business Head for Godrej Garden City and a Board Member for Godrej Garden City Pvt. Ltd., Rupak spearhead the largest project of Godrej Properties Ltd which was a mixed use integrated township development spread over 200 acres. Rupak was responsible for complete P&L of the project, driving the profitability and designing signature customer experiences for the Brand.

During his stint, Rupak was continuously hand picked by the Managing Director to drive strategic all India projects around reducing cost of construction and taking customer service and collections to next level.

Some of the significant achievements during his tenure were:

  • Strengthened top line by improving the market share from 2.8% in FY 12 to 6% in FY 14. Delivered highest market share amongst markets where company has geographical presence.
  • Reduced capital employed in project by 24% in 2 yrs. (Rs1.30 Bn reduction), driving more than 100% growth in collections. Given additional responsibility of driving collections at an All India level.
  • Delivered 3 Mn sft to customers, populated township with over 1500 residents and created global records in admissions in Yr. 1 and Yr. 2 in an international school within campus amongst 44 campuses worldwide.

Under his leadership, Godrej Garden City won over 15 awards at state and national levels, the prominent amongst which include:

As a CEO and Circle Head, Rupak led the P&L responsibility for one of the largest circles of the company in Karnataka with an employee strength of over 500 and turnover of over Rs 750 Cr. He scripted a turnaround by reversing a continuously declining revenue market share. Led GSM services launch, building the distribution infrastructure and sales team for a statewide roll out generating Rs 170 Cr revenue within one year of launch. During his tenure, Reliance moved up from being a No. 4 player in the market to being a No. 3 player.


Bharti Airtel

Chief of Customer Service

Rupak was promoted from Vice President of Sales to Vice President of Customer Service and then became Head of the West India and International markets in 2007. He Managed an Rs 275 Cr operating budget and led 1,100+ employees across 26 locations.

Some significant achievements during his tenure were:

  • Driving call center operations in five locations with over 2000 seats, supporting 30 million customers and business activities which generated Rs 5300 Cr annual revenue in West India and all International markets.
  • Saved Rs 19 Cr. in service expenses by transitioning provisioning, printing, credit and risk, outbound communication, collections to a shared services model.
  • Outsourced complaints management to strategic partners, boosting manpower productivity 160%.
  • Achieved national acclaim including national award for the Best managed service operations in the country.
  • Won 3 consecutive quarterly "CEO Quality Awards" driving quality as a way of life.

Bharti Airtel

VP Sales/VP Customer Service

As DGM Channel Sales, Rupak innovated FMCG distribution model for telecom, setting up 4500+ outlets in 6 months and growing sales multi fold. He also innovated a new distribution model setting up a chain of exclusive franchised telecom outlets called "Airtel Points" and won the Annual Achiever's Club seat being the only candidate to achieve 95% of performance-linked incentives.


HT Media

General Manager of Strategic Marketing

Rupak advanced from National Strategic Business Unit Head to Strategic Marketing Head for North India's largest printing company, directed 87 team members in developing customized marketing and pricing plans for 16 locations.

He negotiated the first-ever strategic alliance among print media groups in India tying up with Deccan Chronicle, Deccan Herald, Mid Day, Indian Express Group and Business Standard while with HT media to improve penetration in untapped markets.

BPL Sanyo

Regional Manager of North India

Rupak joined the company as a regional marketing executive in 1993 and advanced rapidly through a series of regional and P&L Head assignments to be the youngest Regional Manager in the company for their new division to launch alkaline and dry batteries in India.

He built a new division from startup phase to launch alkaline and dry batteries in northern India, capturing 9% market share in year one. Earlier in a P&L assignment, he grew state operations 70% to achieve the highest growth rate in the country.


Ingram Micro

Product Manager

Joined the company as a management trainee from IIM Bangalore campus in 1990 and rapidly advanced into leading nationwide product launches. During his stint here, Rupak turned around a geography operations and launched Canon fax machines and Panasonic Panaboards in the country.
